Vehicle story
History: This Aston Martin DB4 MK2, delivered new to Canada in 1961, crossed the Atlantic to arrive in France in 1998. The current owner acquired it in 2019. The car has not undergone a complete restoration, but it has received significant upgrades, notably a mechanical upgrade with the installation of a Vantage kit, increasing the displacement to 4.2 liters. Part of its history remains incomplete, but registration certificates, a service log, and a few invoices document its history. The vehicle has remained largely faithful to its original specifications, although it shows modifications and normal signs of wear related to its age.
Condition: General: This example is in fine presentation condition, with preservation faithful to the original. Exterior: The bodywork is in good condition despite some minor visible scratches on the doors and rocker panels. The paint, which was repainted several decades ago in its original Desert White color, now shows some color variations and a few cosmetic flaws. The wire-spoke wheels, chrome trim, headlight lenses, and side mirrors are well-preserved. Note that the rear license plate light requires repair.
Interior: The interior of this Aston Martin DB4 has been carefully preserved, offering a unique vintage charm. The red leather front seats have been reupholstered and are in excellent condition, while the original rear seats feature a beautiful patina. The carpets and trim are well-preserved, with signs of normal wear. The dashboard and instrumentation, which have not been restored, remain functional and are in good condition. A modern car stereo has been added, providing a subtle touch of modernity.
Mechanics: Equipped with an engine upgraded to Vantage specifications featuring three SU carburetors, this Aston Martin delivers optimal performance and smooth operation. The 4-speed manual transmission allows for precise and smooth gear changes. For optimal use, replacing the tires, which date from 2012, is recommended. The braking system also requires special attention, with the front left brake disc needing replacement.
Underbody: The car’s underbody is in good condition and free of perforating corrosion. Note that the entire underbody has been treated with stone chip protection and a protective wax coating.
